How does an employee engagement rate of 23% impact your organization?

If you ordered a large pizza but your server only brought you two slices and then charged you full price, you probably wouldn’t be happy.

In the workplace, if fewer than a quarter of your team turned up for work each day, it’s not an understatement to say it would be a bit of a problem. Over time, it would destroy your ability to have any real impact - stalled projects, undelivered products, unanswered calls, missed deadlines, dissatisfied customers.
But that’s what’s happening every day.
One finding in Gallup’s recent State of the Global Workplace report was that only 23% of employees globally felt involved in and enthusiastic about their work. Almost two-thirds (62%) of employees reported ‘doing the bare minimum’ while the remaining 15% were actively disengaged.
Less than one-quarter! That’s like driving a car with only one wheel and wondering why you’re moving so slow and your passengers are so annoyed!
So, here come the obvious questions:

3. If the percentage of engaged employees suddenly went from 23% to 93%, what would this mean for your mission, organizational objectives, sales targets, customer satisfaction or market share?
4. What are you going to do about this?
If you’re confident that everyone in your entire organization is completely engaged and happy in their work, you’re either: a) an amazing leader who should share this secret with the rest of the world, or b) completely deluded.
